Kyoto-LateAutumn
Clouds move above maples
Change colors we walk beneath
Colored spaces mean something else
United States
I should like to rise and go
Where the golden apples grow;
Where below another sky
Parrot islands anchored lie.
Canada
Let us probe the silent places,
let us seek what luck betide us;
Let us journey to a lonely land I know.
Yunnan
Blue mountains embrace the ancient town,
Clear waters wander all around.
A thousand waves reflect the sky,
Green peaks rise where the clouds drift by.
Hangzhou
The lake first sparkled in the sun’s bright dazzling sheen,
Then wonder-making showers the verdant hills would screen.
Switzerland
I saw the dimpling river pass
And be the sky’s blue looking-glass;
The dusty roads go up and down
With people tramping in to town.
Kyoto-EarlyAutumn
Upon the swiftly-gliding river:
See’st thou the myriad lamps that quiver?
Hear’st thou the tinkling samisen?
Hokkaido
The tree and house, and hill and lake,
Are frosted like a wedding-cake.
